Terms of Service
Terms that apply when you use Palate.
Last updated: March 5, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Palate's website, mobile apps, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1. Eligibility and account
You must be at least 13 years old to use Palate. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activities that occur through your account. You agree to provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
2. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Access or attempt to access accounts, systems, or data that are not yours.
- Use automated methods to scrape or copy the Services without our permission.
- Upload illegal, infringing, hateful, abusive, or malicious content.
- Interfere with the normal operation or security of the Services.
- Use Palate to violate applicable law or third-party rights.
3. Your content
You retain ownership of content you submit to Palate, including photos, notes, ratings, and list names. To operate the Services, you grant Palate a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, adapt, and display that content only for service operation, improvement, security, and product development.
If you publish content as public or shareable, you understand it can be viewed by others who receive access through the shared link or app surface.
4. Feedback
If you send ideas, suggestions, or feedback, you grant Palate permission to use that feedback to improve the Services without restriction or compensation to you.
5. Third-party services
Palate may integrate with third-party providers for maps, hosting, analytics, authentication, or messaging. Their services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
6. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if we believe you violated these Terms, created security risk, or exposed Palate or others to legal liability.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
The Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Palate disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Palate is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business interruption arising from your use of the Services.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Palate and its affiliates from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising out of your use of the Services or violation of these Terms.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by applicable laws of the state and country where Palate is operated, excluding conflict-of-law principles, unless local consumer protection law requires otherwise.
11. Updates to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms with a new "Last updated" date and may notify users through the app or email.
